Ingredients
For the Fish Fry:
- Fish (Pomfret, King Fish, Surmai, Rohu, or Basa) – 500g (cleaned and cut into fillets or medium pieces)
- Ready-Made Fish Fry Masala – 2 tbsp
- Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
- Red Chili Powder – ½ tsp (optional for extra spice)
- Salt – To taste
- Lemon Juice – 1 tbsp
- Ginger-Garlic Paste – 1 tbsp
- Rice Flour or Rava (Semolina) – 2 tbsp (for extra crispiness)
- Gram Flour (Besan) or Corn Flour – 1 tbsp (for binding)
- Water – As needed (to make a thick paste)
- Oil – For shallow or deep frying
Instructions
For Fish Fry :
- Prepare the Marinade:
- In a bowl, mix Fish Fry Masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, lemon juice, and ginger-garlic paste.
- Add a little water to make a thick paste.
- Apply the marinade evenly to all fish pieces.
- Rest & Coat the Fish:
- Let the fish marinate for at least 30 minutes (longer for better flavor).
- Just before frying, lightly coat the fish in rice flour or semolina + besan for extra crispiness.
- Fry the Fish:
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Shallow fry or deep fry the fish pieces for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain excess oil on a paper towel.
- Serve & Garnish:
- Garnish with onion rings, lemon wedges, and chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with green chutney or garlic chutney.
