Instructions
For The Chicken Curry :-
- Prepare the Chicken:
- Clean and cut the chicken pieces into medium-sized chunks.
- Marinate the chicken with a little salt and turmeric powder. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.
- Heat Oil & Sauté Onions:
- Heat oil in a large pan or pressure cooker on medium heat.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown (5-7 minutes).
- Add ginger-garlic paste and slit green chilies, sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add Tomatoes & Spices:
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and oil starts to separate from the masala (5 minutes).
- Add the ready-made chicken masala, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally to avoid burning.
- Add the Chicken Pieces:
- Add the marinated chicken pieces to the pan and mix well to coat them with the spices.
- Sauté the chicken for about 5-7 minutes until it changes color and starts to cook.
- Add Water & Simmer:
- Add water to the pan and mix well. You can adjust the amount of water to achieve your desired gravy consistency (thicker or more liquid).
- Cover and cook on medium heat for about 20-25 minutes until the chicken is tender and cooked through. You can cook it for 3-4 whistles in a pressure cooker if you’re using one.
- Garnish & Final Touches:
- Once the chicken is cooked, check for seasoning and adjust salt if needed.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and add fresh cream (optional) for a creamy finish.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve the chicken curry hot with steamed rice, roti, naan, or paratha.
- Pair it with raita or a side salad for a complete meal.
Essential Tips
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of garam masala at the end of cooking.
- For a thicker curry, you can grind a few tablespoons of fried onions into a paste and add it to the curry.
- For a spicier curry, you can increase the amount of green chilies or red chili powder.
- For a rich texture, you can add yogurt or cashew paste during cooking.
